In the photo of 844 the building in the backround reminds me of Grand Island Ne. Is that possible?

Nice to see 844 in its former life - the way it was!

WP, when I saw that photo the first place I thought of was Grand Island.
Also the 535 in Laramie is good and it still remains there on display at the depot downtown along with a push plow and MOW boxcar and caboose.

Bob, I'm sure I have pictures of the 535 on the Coalmont Branch, I think it was commonly used on that run. And the 844 picture is most surely Grand Island.

Wow, Max Miller (no relation). First person I traded photos with, in about 1954. He was in Cleveland or thereabouts and I answered an ad in Railroad mag.

Besides the 3800's, my dad's favorites were the 2200's! He said they were a bit rough on the start, but rode smooth at speed. Please keep those UP steam pix coming! Have you got any from Albina in Portland? Thanx for the great pix!.......Pat

844's at Grand Island, for sure.

And the shot of 740 is most definitely not in May of 1936. Too early for a repaint of such a "lowly" engine into the then brand-new scheme.

That 844 shot can't be 1949. Note the engine has it's Worthington feedwater heater, which wasn't installed until the early/mid 1950's.

Also notice how spick and span it is......NOT!!!
