Needles District meet
Author: Alco251

We're at Ludlow, California on a warm June, 18, 1983 afternoon, and this catch of the east and westbound Parker Locals meeting is a stroke of luck. The Parker Locals were forerunners to today's BNSF "Cadiz Turn"--it was "Santa Fe All The Way" to Parker, with a crew change to take the train on to Phoenix. This local was a bastion of GP30s and GP35s for many years in Santa Fe days.

Just about any Coast Lines train was GP30/GP35 fodder before 1985 or so.
On the Coast Lines, the GP30/GP35's could be used for anything.

Looks to be some sort of snow shield on a GP30.

Thank you, Mr. Finan. Much appreciated. Never knew
those things went on GP30's.
