SP 9803 East, but it could have been North, right after the UP takeover when I took this shot. In the consist are two ex-SP SW1500's already painted in their new owners colors. The SW1500's were 1179 & 1166 and the other SD70 was 9819. I didn't get the number of the trailing SD40T-2. Mt Eddy is located on the other side of I-5 from Mt Shasta and has an elevation of 9,025feet. The little spot of green in front of 9819 is now a couple of large pine tree's pretty well screwing this shot up.

What's the gradient?

Tough to look at with the yellow mixed in. Going to guess this was 1997 or 1998...

Yellow is just a poor color for a diesel engine, at least the way UP uses it. Too much of it.
