Note the notch in the ridge this side of the front 1/4 of the train, that is the roadbed and cut used on the 10 degree curve alignment that was by-passed by the 1970s construction of the 6 degree curve now in use.

Here is the old alignment superimposed on the above image, just so you can get idea of how tight those curves were. Other curves east of here and west of Alray were broadened at that same time.

A sweet short shooter, probably had to throttle down for the curves with that much power and back then everything could be on line.

Allowed speed is 30-35 all the way up?
If so, no need to throttle back.
