Nostalgia & History > Binghamton, New York, Conklin Yard, May 1986Date: 12/04/12 07:28 Binghamton, New York, Conklin Yard, May 1986 Author: captrr Memorial Day weekend 1986 found me and my seven-months pregnant wife in Binghamton, New York, for some serious railfanning. She insisted we do something special that weekend before the "burden" of child-bearing rendered railfanning difficult and ill-advised. Guilford, Susquehanna, and CONRAIL cooperated, if the weather did not always. I shot over 100 images that weekend. I've scanned many and will post some here in three different sections. First, Conklin Yard.
1. Delaware & Hudson C424M #451, 250840 May 86 2. D&H (ex-Reading) GP39-2 #7415, 250900 May 3. D&H bay window caboose #35723, 250930 May. I finally realized, in '86, that cabooses were becoming endangered species and started shooting them as much as motive power. If I had only realized that a decade earlier! 5. B&M GP40-2 #300 in its original paint, and in happier times, exiting Hoosac Tunnel's east portal in 1979. I know I've already posted this years ago, but felt #300 deserved a second look. 6.
