FoggFile: 8 Santa Fe 'gators on one train
Author: valmont

Howard Fogg captured these 8 'gators' eb on a rainy Sept. 12, 1964 @ Williams Jct., AZ. I think the most of these Alcos I ever saw together were 2, and that was in the Santa Fe yard at Argentine, KS!

There's a picture of 10 of them on the headend of a empty York Canyon coal train in Joe McMillan's Route of the Warbonnets. This train must have sounded great!

It lingered through at least mid-1979, when Emery Gulash made the cross-country trip whose film footage eventually became Green Frog's "Santa Fe Odyssey v.2." Stills of buildings from that trip are in the two Morning Sun |Santa Fe Facilities volumes, including some May 1979 photos of a delapidated Williams Jct. depot on p.108 of volume 1.

Hard to believe it was once the busiest station in Arizona, with up 16 trains a day.
