the bells over the long hood of each unit, which both have had their short hoods chopped! I'm wondering about the ancestry of these two, as I don't think the P&S bought them new. It appears they were set up for long hood front operation, then chopped and perhaps reconfigured for short hood front operation, without moving the bells. Anyone know for sure? Nick Tharalson, Marion, IA Date: 12/11/12 17:20 Re: Pittsburg & Shawmut GP7's Author: ns2557 Were these perhaps the units that either were or were to become the units of Mountain Laurel? They had a bunch of chop nosed Geeps around for abit and oerated on the ex Shawmut Line if I recall for a while. Some eventually wound up in Utha on the Utah Rwy. They didn't last long here if they were used at all. Recall taking some shots in Martin of them. Ben

Over the next few years they got these two GP7s from Conrail, chopped their noses at the Brookville PA shops, and gave them a slightly different red, white, and blue paint job.
When the Red Bank RR and Mountain Laurel RR came along in the late 80s and early 90s, they acquited six GP10s lettered for Mountain Laurel that were painted red, silver, and black. For more info visit my site at www.shawmutline.com Dennis Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/08/13 13:51 by woobub. |
