Rio Grande's Railblazer 'Sprint' train #103 slams across the CTC controlled switches at West Riverton, Utah. Trains #102 and 103 had expedited 14 hour schedules, delivering piggyback traffic (with a single crew change) between Denver and Salt Lake City for $299.

D&RGW GP40-2 #3129 is pictured on a bitter cold early morning in February 1987. Train 103 is about a dozen miles or so from tying up (on time) at Rio Grande's Piggyback Terminal in South Salt Lake.

Train was two man crew. Even with cabooses, it would run two man. That was the idea
