Three photos taken in what was left of the SB yard in December of 1976.

1 - The end of the Westbound Amtrak Coast Starlight with SP car #291 and SP business car DEL MONTE on the rear. This is West of Milpas Street as the train approaches its next stop at the SB station on December 13th, 1976.
2 - An SP Westbound freight led by SD45T-2 #9166, U33C #8592 and SD45T-2 #9367 arrives in SB on its way to San Luis Obispo and points north. We are looking East Northeast at Milpas Street in the distance on December 27th, 1976.
3 - The local out of Oxnard switching right near the old roundhouse, which is behind me, using SW1500 #2453. This location is just south of the Santa Barbara yard, which is on the other side of this small lumber yard, and also West of Milpas Street. Photo taken on December 27th, 1976.

Love your frequent posts on the Santa Barbara area . . . we used to spend a couple of weeks each January with the kids at the Miramar and I would rail fan all the up to the Questa grade north of SLO . . . keep 'em coming . . .

The Miramar was a very nice resort in its day and attracted vacationers from all over the world. Unfortunately it is crumbling away and various schemes have been proffered in the last dozen years or so to either rebuild it or start with something new. But a recent trip up that way revealed nothing seems to be happening other than weed growth and structural decay. Very sad.
