The American Freedom Train began its epic journey across the country behind former Reading T1 2101 (The T1 was restored in 30 days, but that is another story) ... here is to everyone that made it happen! Photo taken on 8 Apr 1975 at Albany New York, the train's second stop. Photographer unknown, my collection.

Regards,
Burlington John

A 30 day restoration is pretty impressive since it will take 4449 over a year just to have its 1472 day inspection. I guess it's just money...

Ross Rowland used parts from sister engine #2100 and since the 2101 had not been used in the Reading Rambles, she was in fairly good condition to start. Lots of hard work went into this restoration back in 1975 down at the old B&O Roundhouse located in South Baltimore, Maryland.

Thanks for another look back, John. That is one period of my life I would like to revisit but armed with the camera and knowledge I have now.
