Old CNR Adlake switch lock
Author: eminence_grise

Although most of the Adlake switch locks and tool house locks have been replaced on the Canadian railways, some remain where the municipal fire departments need access to gated property. Such is the case at Lorne Street in Kamloops BC on a roadway access to the platform where "Rocky Mountaineer" entrains and detrains.

Although reliable, the old switch locks were too easy to vandalise, and now much stronger but less picturesque locks are used.

Even though I've been retired more that two years, I still have an old Santa Fe switch key on my key ring. I've had it for 40 years at least. I guess I need to be pistol whipped be a special agent.

The switch lock pictured is not made by ADLAKE but "Mitchell of Canada".

Thanks, it didn't have any makers mark, I assumed it was an Adlake which are very similar.
