I have located a station stamp that imprints the words: "CRR of NJ, Jersey City Star" on it. Does any one have an idea what is meant by "Jersey City Star"? Was it a newspaper? Can't find anything on it in Google. Thanks in advance.

The name of a passenger train?

Perhaps it is from an off-site ticket office in Jersey City. No Jersey Central trains ever had "star" in a name. There was a newspaper named the "Newark Star-Ledger", but it would be a stretch to think the paper and the dater die (or whatever it is you have) is related.

Didn't the Post Office have "Star Routes?" Could your stamp have a postal connection?

I tried Googling but found nothing that popped up immediately.
However, when I did a search at newspapers.com. I found several
articles that were credited to Jersey City Star.

The first credit had a date of 1904. The last one was 1956.

I even went so far as to call the public Library in Jersey City.
But, they couldn't find anything. They did take my name and e-mail
and told me that if they found anything. That they would call me.

I have just gone to the Library of Congress' web site where they
have a list of all newspapers printed in the USA. There wasn't a
Jersey City Star listed there.
