Nostalgia & History > MKT station at Taylor,Tx -- June 77Date: 04/18/14 08:57 MKT station at Taylor,Tx -- June 77 Author: gcm Looking north on the Missouri-Kansas-Texas line at Taylor,Tx- about 40 miles south of Temple and 160 miles north of Houston.
There was an operator at this station close to or up to the UP takeover in 1988. Just behind me is the Missouri-Pacific crossing. Just north of the station is the connecting track to the MP which at this time the Inter-American used and the Texas Eagle still uses today. Unfortunately the station did not survive. What a difference a few years make. 10 years prior to that, the Katy track was a mess, although Barriger had already assumed the helm 2 years earlier (1965)and was working hard to fix years of deferred maintenance. Looking great in this photo. Nice folks they were in the Taylor MKT depot.
