Cowboys - check
1880's steam - check
Artillery - check
Cab-forward rolling down what may be Alameda St - check
1930s autos - check

And it's all in color

Note the cab forward was pulling the large Railway Gun from Fort MacArthur.

The loco engineer was a Mr Buckley, father of Tom Buckley will known as Public Relations for SP in LA, then later for Santa Fe and Union Station.

Until Union Station opened, all SP and UP trains operated down Alameda Street from Central Station.

All kinds of power would be seen, including the Coast Daylight 4400's.

Looks like Jerry Colonna leading the marching band at 04:10. If it is not him, the guy is a dead ringer for Bob Hope's sidekick.

A very common occurance back then. Alameda St was the main line.

SP 1, the C.P. Huntington, was roughly 75 years old when appearing in these 75-year-old films.

The funny thing is the "old" cars in the parade were only about 20 years old. We wouldn't get the same feel using cars from the 1990's (our version of 20+ year old cars).

Wow that is a fun video. The old trains, the modern trains for the time, the railroad gun, and the old cars. What a find.

Did I read it right that the cab forward was an AC-5?
