SW1 ID help
Author: alco636

Hi everyone! This yellow over orange SW1 was seen at BNs Northtown Yard in Fridley, MN in 1990. It's numbered #79. Roller bearing equipped, with modern looking cab windows. An odd style of pilot too. Any body have any clues?

Just guessing it might be an ILS loco (Independent Locomotive Services).
How about ILSX 79 ex-SLSF?

Thanks, but I don't think so. Different windows, and it has a spark arrestor.

It has a simplified GN look to it and a proper GN number applied. I see the stack is capped with a bucket.

Wondering if it might be a Paducah rebuild - they did a couple of SW-1 locomotives and that might explain the new windows, roller bearings, and light colored paint
