Gee Ed, for a minute there I thought "heritage units'" referred to you and the other fellows in the fist two pictures! ;>)

Hate to use the phrase "good old days," but that was
when (1) there were towers, and (2) you could go into

They were great days to be a railfan. However the 1970s were tough years for Conrail. It took billions of dollars expended over several years to reverse decades of neglect and the Staggers Deregulation Act for Conrail to become a viable railroad.
