Nostalgia & History > Toto Tuesday: UP Glint at Button RoadDate: 07/22/14 07:06 Toto Tuesday: UP Glint at Button Road Author: santafe199 Here’s a time-honored scene that happens many times every single day in the RR world. The on-line pickup, garnished with the obligatory air test. If my memory holds up, I came across Kansas City-Salina train #155 making a gargantuan pick up at Topeka. So large that the head end pokes clear out of the yard and into the crossover plant at Button Rd. In image #2 it looks like I have a companion shadow shooting with me, but memory fails me on who this was.
But both of us caught a little bit of Uncle Pete glint some 35 years ago… 1. UP 2914 on #155 is shoving back to a joint after making a huge pickup. 2. With the joint made, the 2914’s crew is performing the required air test. 3. Air test completed, it’s now “Hi-ball, 155”! (3 photos taken at or near Button Rd crossing in Topeka, KS on September 18, 1979) Thanks for looking! Lance Garrels santafe199 Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/19/22 21:12 by santafe199. Sometimes the head end was almost to
Brick Yard Road. Continues today on the M-KCSI. And a U30C on the point. Good Stuff. Roberto PRose |
