Flying Warbonnets and the extreme limits of film use...

Pushing film into the realm of miraculous outcomes, to be sure. The lit numberboards pretty much explain it all, not to mention the total absence of depth-of-field. Yes the lens was wide open, and the shutter speed may well have been 1/60th of a second.

(This image was unsuitable for an A/V presentation due to headlight and ditch light mirror reflections. So, a trip through Photoshop 7 salvaged it for use here.)

The 189 train was a high H.P.T., low tonnage shooter, that was, in its day, pretty much the hottest westbound one could catch in daylight on the east end of the Needles Sub. Usually showing up sometime around three to four o'clock at Ibis, it was pretty rare for him to be THIS late.

Then there was the little matter of the intercept...

For those of you who know how to access Danby, you of course can imagine attempting a perpendicular 70 m.p.h. train vs. car race on the "washboard" two-mile-long access road. My teeth start to chatter just recalling frivolity of it all.

Talk about "point and shoot", this was it to the MAX!

As always - Thanks for looking......

Very nice, head on you can get away with a slower shutter speed.

Love it! I've tried that a few times myself. Doesn't always work, but when it does ya feel pretty good about it.
Things seem to be just wee-little bit different in this digital age, though... ;^)
