Looks like an Alco stand, and the handrail stanchions outside the window are Alco style. DRGW-era SP lettering outside too... RS11s were gone, maybe an RS32?

Never had to deal with independent and auto train brakes mounted directly in front of you, very strange set up.

All of the EMD passenger units thru at least the E and F-9s were that way, many of the early Alcos also.

This is absolutely an "early" ALCo, but it is not an RSD15, as the nose is too short.
