The diesel shops constructed at the south side of the old yard lasted until the early nineties.They were built in 1944 and enlarged throughout the years.The shops were closed when the largest diesel shop building ,which unlike the old shop is a runthrough facility, was constructed and opened at the new yard diesel service facility.The shops were close to our layover motel so a convenient walk was often in the offering.Bill Webb
