Nostalgia & History > A lucky grab shot of the SPDate: 09/13/14 21:26 A lucky grab shot of the SP Author: lamta_jay On my way home from work after dropping off a co worker in El Serino
MP487 on the Mission Blvd line between Alhambra and Mission Tower Had to be about 1977, I did not record the date on the slide. Thanks for looking Jay Date: 09/14/14 00:06 Re: A lucky grab shot of the SP Author: coach 2 nice photos here: SP, and a Black Velvet lady. Loved those Black Velvet ads--classy ladies.
Date: 09/14/14 07:41 Re: A lucky grab shot of the SP Author: Milwaukee That is a really lucky grab shot. I wouldn't have believed one could have seen Alcos (looks like C628's) on the road in the Bay Area as late a 1977. The older SD9 outlived all the rest on that train by a wide margin.

I must have been reading the caption too fast and jumped to the conclusion it was the other "Mission" up in San Fran. Thanks. I've long noticed that SP right-of-ways seemed to be a favored location for whiskey billboards, but that their frequency declined after mandatory random urine testing of employees was instituted. As Mr. Spock might comment: "Fascinating." Coincidence or conspiracy between the ad agency and SP?! One for Svengooli. Posted from iPhone |
