Ford locomotive 1944 The Rouge Plant
Author: professor

Here is a scanned photo of Ford locomotive 1001, taken at The Rouge Plant, 1944. Note the chrome grilles and handholds. I found this in the book, "The Ford Road, 75th Anniversary, Ford Motor Company, 1903-1978". This book was published in 1978.

Except for the most modern versions, GE centercabs typically don't have model designations. Fans tend to identify them by their weight, and according to Diesel Locomotives: The First 50 Years, Ford 1000-1001 are 125 tons and the others are 132 tons. One of the latter, 1006, is preserved at the Lake Shore Railway Museum in Northeast, PA as WA&G 1700:

I thought I'd see if I could do anything to try to hide the water damage on the top of the picture without being TOO obvious about it.

Classy unit! Nice job on the sprucing up of the photo. Was that scanned from a amagazine?

Congratulations, you've violated a copyright still in effect.

Appears to be some Ford maritime action in the background as well.
