Maroon Monday - The West Side Job
Author: Englewood

July 1970. The West Side Job at Ash St. on the
connection between the CJ and IC on its way to the
CPT (Chicago Produce Terminal)

The job came out of Blue Island, went north on
the Rock to Root St, where it went around the south wye,
onto the CJ, through Ashland Ave. Yard,
across Brighton Park, around the connection at
Ash St, and finally east on the IC to CPT.

Not the best picture but it will have to do.

Thanks for sharing! Ash St had lots of variety at one time, especially when the Produce Terminal and the Stock Yards were open!.....

Classic power, and Merchants Despatch reefers are icing on the cake. Early one morning in 1975 I had a Rock short man come up the passenger main from Gresham to 79th Street (switchtenders still there) and thence B&OCT north to Ash Street. That was the only Rock I recall ever seeing on the B&OCT by 75th Street Tower.
Always great to see old Rock photos on Trainorders.

Thanks for mentioning. I thought that had
happened at least once but did not have any
proof.
