New Northern Pacific U25Cs Being Delivered
Author: MartyBernard

On June 20, 1964 I caught up with NP U25C 2508 being delivered by the CB&Q at Dayton's Bluff Yard in St. Paul, MN. Nine days later I caught 2509 there. They were built in June 1964, became BN 5608 and 5609 respectively, and were retired in March 1981.

The Q's wooden waycar 14120 in the first photo had a steel underframe.

Other than in model form, one non-NP saved off the LS&I.

Brand shiny new before they were modified with openings in the doors on the side to allow the air receiver tanks to cool. These also got air cooler piping and openings in the roof that corresponded to the receiver tank location.

Please note where they put the bell: right above and behind the window of the Fireman's seat!! That's crazy--is this GE logic, or NP desires??
