Nostalgia & History > Along The Milwaukee Road With My New iPhoneDate: 09/28/14 22:55 Along The Milwaukee Road With My New iPhone Author: walstib Before heading south to Carpinteria for the winter, I figured I could squeeze in one more trip to eastern Washington. As luck would have it, the UPS guy delivered my new iPhone 6+ on Thursday before I headed east from Seattle. So, I've been taking a lot of iPhone shots on this trip.
After spending a few days in Skykomish, on Sunday I ventured east along the old Milwaukee Road. I flew the quadcopter at some spots and took stills with the iPhone. Here are a few iPhone shots taken along the old Milwaukee Road in eastern Washington. 1. The old Milwaukee power house west of Othello. 2. A big hook on an overhead crane inside the power house. 3. A bridge abutment and support over the BNSF in Lind. I always appreciate the history lessons to be seen/learned along these once critical ROW's. As a token old fart, I keep adding these new areas to explore to my gotta do list ... thanks again!
Odyssey Evergreen, CO Date: 09/29/14 00:36 Re: Along The Milwaukee Road With My New iPhone Author: wabash2800 The photo with the bridge abutment and pier is eerie. They are like citadels or monuments in the desolate high country.

I don't have the details, though.
One thing I noticed out between Othello and Royal City is that all of the RR-xing signs and pavement markings are still still in place, this on a line that hasn't seen service in years and years. The pavement markings were fresh, too. Posted from iPhone Date: 09/29/14 09:38 Re: Along The Milwaukee Road With My New iPhone Author: callum_out That line is technically "in service" now.

I believe Cedar Falls, Washington had one until at last the 90's and it may still be there. I know there were more but can't recall where at the moment. Thanks for giving us an update. I love the fact they still have the rail at Taunton. Time is really trying its best to stand still there. There may have been on at Haugan but it is gone. Alberton had a poured concrete base instead of bricks and Deer Lodge kept the tank on top past the end of electerrification.
