Southern Pacific Cascades Shortcut & Wrecker?
Author: McKey

I just finished reading Justin Scott / Clive Cussler "the Wrecker" novel. It tells about building of the Cascades cutoff while Wrecker creates havoc on building areas and elsewhere to Southern Pacific interests.

Since it looks like the other half of many Clive Cussler books is based in facts researched and the other half is wild imagination I'm wondering if anyone here would know where to find written sources on the line building? Many details from the time period seem to be quite well researched anyway.

Thank you for any ideas and hints leading forward on this subject!

John

"The Wrecker" goes back a couple of years. With later works like "The Striker" and "The Chase" his railroad research seems to have improved a bit.

I like Cussler's books. They are what I call 3-beer novels. After the third beer they become fine literature!

Yes, why not!

And even this one was interesting railroadwise.

Clive Cussler's "The Wrecker" drives me nuts. He might as well have been describing a railroad on the Planet Mongo.
