Nostalgia & History > A little Panama RR nostalgiaDate: 09/30/14 16:28 A little Panama RR nostalgia Author: photobob Here's a Panama City-Colon train passing Fort Clayton in 1965. I was stationed at Fort Clayton for two years so the sound of trains was common. The Panama Canal is just to the right of the photo. Being this was in the Canal Zone I consider it not to be international so I feel its right at home on the Nostalgia Board.

The catenary poles were used for electric and other utility wires, not necessarily railroad related. I imagine it allowed for ease of maintenance with the swampy and wet surroundings.
