One of my favorite trips as a teen was a Klamath Falls Turn: #10 from OAK-KFS, hang out for a few hours, then return overnight on #11. Oakland to Klamath Falls on the "Shasta Daylight" was the Shasta Route's equivalent of a Los Angeles to Bakersfield turn-around on the "San Joaquin Daylight;" fewer trains to watch but more scenery. (Both were great trips!)
