Santa Fe Yellow-Bonnett where/ when is/was it?
Author: JimBaker

This photo turned up on Ebay today.
It looks like Cajon Summit, but I don't connect the dots.
The hill is wrong.

It appears to be to be a special excursion with private cars following.

Reference: EBay item No. 281482067085

Thanks for the help.

It is 1972, and the train is the eastbound Amtrak "Chief", which ran only that year.

20 started 6/72, didn't it? Would've thought
construction would've shown up more--
it's all out of sight to the left?

Thanks all.

I've heard that Amtrak didn't like the all-yellow nose.
