Author: JimBaker

The North Hollywood depot has been dedicated today, but no one knew about i tunless you were in a privileged group.
I attach the link to the announcement with a nice photo.

I have no knowledge of what or who is going to occupy the building now.

Jim-- That building is absolutely "stunning" .. They did a great job of restoration. They need to have some Red Cars running by the place!
Ques: Are you related to the photographer, per chance ??

Cheers.

Absolutely amazing, would have been pretty close to #1 for the relics to be torn down
and built over yet here it is, pretty neat.

If only I had the funds to rent, I would run a hobbyshop with a Train Club in the freight room!

Not any more, but if you consider the LA METRO Red Line Subway from downtown Los Angeles which terminates underground just across the street, Yes !!

The original rails are still stuffed next to the fence. They were pulled up during phase one mitigation.
I am trying to find out what the plans are for them but local bureaucracy seems to be impenetrable.
They (Metro/City Council) did not tell any locals about this ceremony even though it is our tax dollars that went into it.

No. The Mid Town North Hollywood Neighborhood Council (MTNHNC) of which I am a board member is a backer for years to save and restore the station MTNHNC is a legal entity of the City of Los Angeles and we are elected by the people (no salary though)
They didn't say anything to us even though we were part of the Ph 1 completion ceremony and our Councilman, Paul Krekorian, is on Metro's board and in the pictures.
The "public opening" won't be held until the completion of Phase 3, tenant (tbd) improvements.

Go to You Tube and search for "Lankershim Station" to see what MTNHNC proposed several years ago for Ph 3.

Carnegie 1902 rail is what was dug up along Canoga Avenue just south of Sherman Way (Hull Bros. Lumber in Canoga Park) when construction began on the Metro Orange Line Busway (former SP Burbank Branch).
