Author: MartyBernard

Here are two more Rick Burn photos. Both were taken from Chicago's Roosevelt Road Viaduct minutes from their Dearborn Station bumper post.

1. AT&SF F3A 24L with Train 18, The Super Chief, in August 1962. Built in 1948 and became CF7 2623.

2. AT&SF F3A 34C with Train 2, The San Francisco Chief, in December 1967. Built in 1949 and became CF7 2631.

Enjoy Rick's photos,
Marty Bernard

Cool glimpses back at Santa Fe history. I also like that Meadow Gold building in the background. Chicago history that evokes typical American industry of the 40s & 50s for me...

Never mind the F-units. Look at the boxcars and reefers!

The MoW force is removing the crossover to the left of the train in the first photo, one point is gone. Second photo shows it as only a memory.

SF conductors and brakemen on the both the Super Chief and the San Francisco Chief, were based out of Chillicothe, IL and Fort Madison, IA. and worked between Fort Madison and Chicago. Fort Madison and Chicago passenger enginemen worked between Fort Madison and Chicago.
