Amtrak had some variaty on the San Diegans early but then it settled down to the "usual" in the 1980's

I don't know how often the SDP40F's went to San Diego but most of the time I saw old Santa Fe F units and then the old ex UP E units.

#1 and 2 were the only time I saw the SDP40F's down there

#3.....Here is the usual , the F40's that took over until the Surfliners came along

Interesting to see the ex-Santa Fe High-Level car at the rear in the first two photos. I also enjoy seeing the "New Look" GM bus in the background of the first photo.
