These are all from 6x7 color negatives produced using a Pentax 67 camera. I flogged myself for years for using color negative film; no editor wanted color prints. Then it became necessary to scan our photographic materials. My favorite media to scan now is color negatives as in my hands they produce the best results.

1. SP 9801 W. at Walong, CA (The Loop) with its train still on the loop. 7-94
2. Same as 1 SP 9801 passing an ATSF EB at Caliente, CA note the USPS Office and man on horseback.
3. SP 9814 W. at Bealville, CA 08-94

I always thought the bloody nose wings looked a bit odd on the wide-cabs, and now that I have a chance to study it, I can see why. If you compare this to an older hood unit, there are/were only two grey stripes -- or three red depending on how you look at it. The wide cab has one extra. Also the curvature of the older wings was much rounder than the wide cabs, which look kinda square. I wonder why the change.

As for the pix though -- fantastic! And a lot of manifest trains there. A lot more interesting than a pile of containers as far as I'm concerned.

It looked better on the GE's, goofy on the EMD's (IMHO)...

The color rendition is superb - did you have to do much color correction in your scans? What scanner do you use?

Minimal correction with Plustek Opticfilm 120 and Hamrick's VueScan.
