If you have AT&T U-Verse, check out the movie Harold Lloyd's World of Comedy (originally shown on TCM this week), which is available on-demand free until November 30th.

This 1962 film is a compilation of short segments extracted from his silent and sound movies (mostly the former). A significant part of it is devoted to on-location shots recorded during the teens in and around downtown L.A. - lots of city and suburban street footage. There are several trolley car scenes featuring open cars (convertibles? trolleys I don't know) a including lengthy segment shot inside one that was obviously moving. One scene shows Lloyd's "Butterfly Six" automobile being demolished by a trolley's safety fenders.

Heavy rail segments include scenes (albeit short) of ATSF 1200 & 1300 Pacifics, and 4-6-0 #337 (scrapped 1926), pulling wooden equipment. One short segment shows a ATSF engine pulling up through the L.A. depot, but Lloyd debarks from SP wooden coach #1444. SP segments include shots with P-1 & P-5 Pacifics, and what appears to be a 2300 series 4-6-0 on a freight train. There are also a few second of #76, the Lark, at the Chatsworth tunnels. ATSF is also represented on a single track mountain line, but I don't know where.

Worth a look-see. Fast-forward and rewind buttons make it pleasurable, even if Lloyd is not your cup of tea.
