Some early Conrail in the Pittsburgh, Pa area
Author: EH49

Scanning some of my slides and I would like to share these 3 with you.

First up, we have this Westbound at Emsworth, Pa. which is located between Pittsburgh and Conway, with this colorful consist. Yes, that is a CNW GP30 back in the consist.

Next up is this Westbound coal train at Leetsdale, Pa., that has a former LV, originally Monon, C628 running long hood forward making this a rare shot.

Next, we have a former EL C424 leading a Eastbound out of Conway, Pa.

Great photos thanks for posting. Is there any chance you have dates for the photos?

I've been trying to nail down paint dates for model railroading purposes.

Thanks,

Kris

Emsworth is cool place to watch trains… spent time at the river locks there….

Nice stuff! If losing a handful of beloved RR entities along with their varied & colorful paint schemes could ever be called "fun", this must have been the fun part. Getting all these rainbow consists in their endless varieties was surely an attraction for area railfans! Even growing up in the Midwest I could look at this stuff all day...
