Nostalgia & History > Some early Conrail in the Pittsburgh, Pa areaDate: 11/27/14 18:47 Some early Conrail in the Pittsburgh, Pa area Author: EH49 Scanning some of my slides and I would like to share these 3 with you.
First up, we have this Westbound at Emsworth, Pa. which is located between Pittsburgh and Conway, with this colorful consist. Yes, that is a CNW GP30 back in the consist. Next up is this Westbound coal train at Leetsdale, Pa., that has a former LV, originally Monon, C628 running long hood forward making this a rare shot. Next, we have a former EL C424 leading a Eastbound out of Conway, Pa. Date: 11/27/14 18:54 Re: Some early Conrail in the Pittsburgh, Pa area Author: EH49 Now we have a former Reading GP40-2 in charge of a Eastbound at Conway, Pa. If losing a handful of beloved RR entities along with their varied & colorful paint schemes could ever be called "fun", this must have been the fun part. Getting all these rainbow consists in their endless varieties was surely an attraction for area railfans! Even growing up in the Midwest I could look at this stuff all day...
