few from '75 . . .

. . taking a break from my '73 posts, few from a '75 summer trip cross country, these are all reposts from some time or another;
top: Northbound "City of New Orleans" blasting into Fernwood, MS.
middle: Making it's stop at Joliet Union Station was the one GMO commuter train out of Chicago.
bottom: The "Auto Train" was northbound at Folkston, GA.

I've only seen one GM&O F unit in my life, and that was the 880-B. I saw it off Amtrak arriving in Chicago in June of '76. Thanks for posting these nice photos.

My dad used to ride the GM&O "Plug" to Chicago and back to our hometown of Lockport. I used to love to watch it come into town after school. The GM&O had a number of F-3's. The crew worked a one round trip each day with a long Chicago layover. I remember dad telling me how the conductor worked a second day job in Chicago as a bartender at the Palmer House Hotel. Guess I will have to look for my old photos.
