Nostalgia & History > L&N Diner Duncan HinesDate: 01/21/15 18:36 L&N Diner Duncan Hines Author: MEKoch This dining car is sitting in Bowling Green, KY and can be viewed at the Railpark & Train Museum. They have a nice tour of the diner and other cars.
My question is: Did this car operate on Amtrak? Briefly in the 70s? If so, which trains? Car Number? Date: 01/21/15 19:56 Re: L&N Diner Duncan Hines Author: Topfuel That car isn't the Duncan Hines. It's the former SP 10202 diner built by PS in 1949. It did operate on Amtrak but similar to many of the ex-SP PS-built cars, was never refurbished by Amtrak and was primarily used on the west coast in standby and Reno Fun Train service until retirement circa 1977. I believe it was sold to the Kentucky Railway Museum and eventually found it's way to the Bowling Green display as a stand-in for the former L&N diner.
