Here’s a Burlington Northern PR photo showing a trio of BN SD-45s in Murray Yard in North Kansas City. With a bit of referencing we think the shot was taken in 1971. No date was supplied on the photo, but here is what was attached to the back of this glossy 8 x 10:

“Burlington Northern train #69, powered by three 3,600-horsepower SD-45 diesel-electric locomotives, arrives in Kansas City yard from Chicago. Part of the $10 million yard’s trailer-on-flat car/container-on-flat car handling facility is visible between the engines and the Kansas City skyline.” It is signed: Public Relations Dept. Burlington Northern Inc. St. Paul, Minnesota.
