The morning of January 21, 1973 was cold with some sun. Eastbound EL 820, 814 pulling TOFC through Akron, Ohio look just as beautiful as when they led the morning westbound EL "Lake Cities" passenger train years before this. While there were seven tracks in this scene, today there are only the two CSX mainline tracks. Also missing are the EL freight station on the other side of the bridge and the EL passenger station with its visible walkway and platform. Thankfully this image helps capture an EL and Akron that local railfans thought would never disappear.
