few "flare" friday . . .
Author: 3rdswitch

. . .
top: a single "flare" works as a remote unit on an eastbound SOU train departing Chattanooga, TN 8-77.
middle: one of a number of MPI units used for a few years by Utah Rwy, Martin, UT 8-91.
bottom: a couple of different "flares" are on the point of a UP eastbound climbing Cajon Pass at Blue Cut, Ca 7-74.

Neat. Always liked high hoods and never can get enough of the DD35s.

Great shots, esp. that pile of UP power in #3.

Those MPI former SSW SD45s lasted a long time without being rebuilt on the SP. I think 9005 was SSW 9052. Not sure where they are today.
