EMD builder photo: ET-909 Test Engineering Car
Author: Albrae

A comment by "HotWater" in the earlier thread about the EMD E8A builder photo reminded me I have an EMD builder image of EMD Test Engineering Car ET-909.

http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,3649806

The unit pictured here was built new from an F3B, Order #89909-B01, b/n 8413, blt. 7/48. As mentioned by "HotWater", it was repainted to match the E8A demo unit in that photo taken the following summer (July 1949). ET-909 served for many years, though I don't recall its ultimate fate. (scrapped?)

That would be an "interesting" build using a Highliners B-unit kit!

Overland Models produced several versions of the ET-909 and matching F-unit 462 just a couple of years ago. A very interesting piece of equipment, and a fair amount of careful work can produce a nice plastic version as well!

Cheers,
Harry
