The "Other" ATSF 2900
Author: CrudPunko

For those of us who followed the latter day Santa Fe, we all knew that ATSF 2900 was a GP35u. But on April 21, 1992 I caught the "other" ATSF 2900" at Riverbank CA. I found it only fitting that ATSF 2900, a Ford tractor, should be assigned to the Central Valley.

If only the locomotive wearing the same number had been there that day too. I checked my scanned colleciton of slides and the closest I could find was the 2898 near Pinole CA on February 15, 1988. Of course, I have thousands of ATSF slides I haven't scanned yet so ... who knows?

That's the East end of Gately for the 2898.
