Did you know that Bangor and Aroostook RR's GP7s were leased to the Long Island RR when Aroostook County potato season ended? The tower in the pictures is Hall Tower at the LIRR's Jamaica Station. That's BAR GP7 74 on January 30, 1977.

Enjoy,
Marty Bernard

A batch of BAR GP9's were jointly purchased with the PRR with the stipulation that they'd see ore service around Cleveland in the summer and haul 'taters Down East during the winter. Your photo was taken long after the PRR sold its interest in the LIRR to the state, though.

We saw them in Indiana on the PRR.

Wonder what that freight was doing in the background? Would that have come from Long Island City?

And I remember seeing them in Calgary on the CP in 1971!
