WP Car Ferry, 1970's, and the 608
Author: drumwrencher

Thanks to trainjunkie, I now know this is WP's car ferry Las Plumas. Thanks, my friend!

First pic, WP MW "idler flat" #59. Don't know if the skirt is raising or lowering.

Second, ol' JR looks like he braved the wrath of a curt "Get the hell outta here" and stepped up for a closeup of her deck. (you KNOW I've been yelled at before)

Last, WP switcher 608 working, I assume, somewhere near the dock. Looks like the East Bay hills behind her, so I figure she's in SF...

Any additional info, corrections, etc., would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Walter

The car ferry was named Las Plumas. WP had a business car named Feather River though.

Thanks. I'll correct it.

Looks like there's nobody on the ship's bridge; possibly it's about to be loaded?

I tend to agree; 40+ years later, who really knows, but it sounds reasonable to me.

Thanks

Walter
