Very nice.

Interesting how the MP did not opt for Budd to install lensware in the ceiling lights but instead used flat glass.

I know that it is raining in photo 3. It always amazes me that folks will go up in a dome and read.

santafedan, that's something I always wondered too. But something even worse - going up into the dome to sleep!!

Here is the back coach section of the Southern dome. The etched mirror glass was a nice touch.

Funny you should mention the Southern's dome. My principal memory from my one ride in one (on the Crescent, just before the AMT takeover in 1979) was how bad the forward visibility was. I basically needed a booster seat to see forward. I'm not exactly a basketball star, but at 5 ft 10" I found that very frustrating.

I later found out that this was a systemic thing--ACF domes required that you be taller than the Budd domes I'd been in elsewhere in order to see forward.

Yeah, you have a point there about the ACF domes. I just remember this car being so darn pretty inside. IDK, maybe it was the headrest covers. LOL!
