Honestly, 45-ish years out, I have forgotten. I *think* the Train Masters were gone @ '73. I'd be willing to bet the H12's were shortly before/after. I'm sure one of our SP guys can give a more accurate date.

Possibly that is because the 1442 was the only SP unit left with an ashcan headlight by then, although my notes say it was removed in 1975.

The 1442 provided backup for the Permanente's regular 1419 and 1420 on a regular basis for more than 20 years.

From what I've read, the last active SP Train Master, 3031, made its last run on the commutes in February 1975. There are several photos in the static photography library here on TO claiming to show active TM's in 1974:
