Nostalgia & History > Amtrak to keep NM routeDate: 03/30/15 07:10 Amtrak to keep NM route Author: valmont Just got a text from our daughter in NM that Amtrak is not going to alter their route through NM .... any verification?
Just found this ... http://www.bizjournals.com/albuquerque/blog/morning-edition/2015/03/amtrak-will-keep-new-mexico-route-for-southwest.html Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 03/30/15 07:42 by valmont. Date: 03/30/15 08:12 Re: Amtrak to keep NM route Author: tomstp I don't think this is the end to this saga yet.
Date: 03/30/15 10:25 Re: Amtrak to keep NM route Author: callum_out Well there certainly hasn't been any money voted for the project from New Mexico, so if Amtrak is
doing this it's out of their own operating budget. As the man says, the saga isn't over. Out Date: 03/30/15 12:45 Re: Amtrak to keep NM route Author: ts1457 callum_out Wrote:

Expect a slow ride though. Date: 03/30/15 13:23 Re: Amtrak to keep NM route Author: retcsxcfm Where have you been Vince? Have not heard from you lately.

Posted from Android Date: 03/30/15 16:54 Re: Amtrak to keep NM route Author: dcfbalcoS1 Isn't that just what we expected? Amtrak makes the announcement themselves and those who never wanted this train to remain on the route or even continue to operate chime in with : " it ain't over yet it ain't over yet" .

BNSF has already pledged $ to fund some of the track upgrades in KS and CO. This is not conditioned on anything related to keeping the SWC on the existing route. Your "loans Amtrak some money" comment is ludicrous (I think this is the fourth time I've fact-checked you on this). BNSF is a free agent on 2/1/16 after the SWC operating agreement expires. They are not under any obligation legally, morally, politically or otherwise to run Amtrak on either the Raton or Amarillo routes. For the cost of a text message, BNSF could tell Amtrak to take a hike and there's nothing anybody could do about it. Bob Date: 03/31/15 12:16 Re: Amtrak to keep NM route Author: callum_out There's also no fiduciary arrangement which would allow BNSF to loan Amtrak money, everything's
possible but this one would be a lulu. Out Date: 03/31/15 15:10 Re: Amtrak to keep NM route Author: ts1457 callum_out Wrote:
