top: The Anaheim Hauler is approaching Los Nietos (Whittier) yard on the Puente Branch 5-87. midle: The Huntington Beach Local was headed for the end of the line and a large lumber distributor on the Stanton Branch in Huntington Beach 4-87. bottom: The empty oil cans were accelerating westbound out of Dominguez Jct on the exPE Wilmington Branch in Dominguez, an old PE power station can be seen in the distance 6-87. Clearing has begun to move the railroad over to the right to make room for the new Metro lite rail Blue Line to Long Beach which will use the current right of way. JB Edited 3 time(s). Any idea why all the power is on the point of the Oil cans? Maybe empties on the way back, no configuration problems, no need for mid-trains, dedicated power on the point and no helper crew? t4p. Author: ExStarlightHog Looks like the first and last units are "off the line" to save fuel, or maybe just bad orders. As an ex-SP pool freight engineer I know that a five unit consist would mean making it to the other end with maybe three still working. Proper maintenance costs too much money and the good old SP didn't like that.
