A Few SJVR Photos

1. SJVR 2038 was the 3rd loco painted into the SJVR paint scheme.  Hanford, CA 07-28-92 former SP GP 20 4116
2. SJVR 103 Exeter, CA 08-92 UP factory GP 20 498 blt. 08-60.   Salvaged in Exeter, CA 09-08
3. SJVR 1755 E. Strathmore, CA 09-29-92 former SP GP  9 E. 3397

5. SJVR 1755 E. Porterville,
6. SJVR 1755 W. between Goshen and Hanford, CA 09-92 notice cotton fields on each side of train.  The last cars are gondolas with excated dirt from a L. A. freeway project.

Was the Strathmore depot privately owned then?  I remember seeing it in the mid-90's and marveling how it had survived trackside while virtually every other SP frame depot in the area had not.  It was later moved to Lemoore to masquerade as their depot.

The goose is the logo for all of the Kyle railroads.

I don't know who owned the  depot; but  in '92 I doubt very seriouly if SP would paint it that color.

Wasn't the depot owned by the people who owned the packing house across the tracks? Always
thought that was the rumor.

Yes, the Goose appeared on the YW and then on the shortline that Kyle created in 1980 to Metaline Falls, WA. Next the Goose showed up on the SD&AE which Kyle bought the remains from the SP's SDAE in 1980.
