Amtrak postcards
Author: Englewood

The young lady does not appear to be enjoying herself.
Perhaps she is horrified by the diner across the table reaching for the steak with his hand?
Or ??

For some reason it appears her date's eyes are not  necessarily looking at hers???

Looks like Michele Bachmann... but that's an Audubon Diner - too bad Amtrak didn't keep the interior that way.

That was an Amtrak promotional booklet about train travel. The picture was of a young lady in the dining car. On her hand was a ring with a four letter word that began with F and ended with K. As soon as Amtrak learned of this they quickly sent word out to all the stations to pull the booklets and destroy them. I found out about this through the rail-fan grapevine (this was WAY before the Internet) and immediately ran to the Capital Beltway station. There I found several on them still in the timetable rack and proceeded to grab all of them. I still have them in my collection packed away.

And too bad they didn't get to keep the freshly prepared food and china too.

Is that something you would mind posting?

Okay realizing the time frame of the picture, I still don't understand what the big deal over her ring is?  I've looked at the picture a while and can barely tell she has a ring on much less what maybe engraved on it.

This isn't the picture I was referring to. In the picture from the booklet she has her hand slightly raised from the table. The palm side of her hand is where the four letter word is located. It's possible this picture was from the same photo shoot.

Any chance you could scan and post that photo???
Hopefully, in the interest of "history", Todd would let it go thru...

Probably not anytime soon. I'll have to dig through the garage and find the box the booklet is stored in and then take it to a friend who can scan it. Maybe it time for me to go out and buy a scanner ....
